Mortgage rates headed lower on December 1st as the 10-year Treasury yield dropped below 4.3% for the first time since September, according to Freddie Mac. “The current trajectory of rates is an encouraging development for potential homebuyers, with purchase application activity recently rising to the same level as mid-September when rates were similar to today’s levels,” Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s chief economist, said in a statement. "The modest uptick in demand over the last month signals that there will likely be more competition in a market that remains starved for inventory.” In spite of the highest interest rates we’ve seen in 23 years, Alameda home values are holding strong because you guessed it, Alameda is special.
